Every year, the graduating fourth-year class of the Bachelor of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies host a group exhibition, showcasing the works of the final year students. The group exhibit, called the BFA Year End Show, is a culmination of the explorations of the graduating class throughout their degree.

This year’s graduating class consists of Barb Dawson, Brock Gratz, Eclipse Galloway, Robyn Miller, Sara Spencer, Aiden de Vin, Bailey Ennig, Ruth Nygard, Angela Gmeinweser and Cassidy Mackenzie.

The title of this year’s BFA Year End Show is “Any Moment”. According to Angela Gmeinweser, who is part of the graduating class and a member of the PR committee for the show, the title alludes to anticipation. Anticipation of both the graduating class in finishing their degree and also to anticipation in a wider sense. Memory, places, liminal moments in space, anticipation of a moment and objects in the midst of becoming are common themes and motifs that are being explored by all members of the graduating class in their work. According to Gmeinweser, the name of the exhibit was voted on by the fourth-year class.

The exhibition will showcase work from a wide variety of forms, reflected by the diverse array of mediums of expression of the graduating class. Any Moment includes sculptures, video installations, paintings, drawings and animations. During the exhibition, the entire Creative and Critical Studies building will be transformed into a gallery space. The exhibition will take place in multiple rooms around the building and will be free to view during the exhibition dates and times. For the graduating class, this show represents an opportunity to showcase the culmination of their work over their entire BFA program. For others, it is a chance to view the works of the next generation of artists in the Okanagan and meet them face-to-face.

In addition to the regular exhibition dates and times, a reception will be held. This reception is free to attend for all students and members of the community. The event will also include free catering and music and beverages from local wineries and breweries will be available for purchase as well. The graduating class would like to encourage everyone to attend the reception, as it is an excellent opportunity to view the works and meet young artists.

Any Moment will run from April 18 – 27, open daily from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The reception will be held April 23 from 7-10 p.m. For more information, please visit the Facebook event, Instagram page, and website.
